REINVENTING ISRAEL-DIASPORA RELATIONS

A strategy for Jewish survival in the 21st century must revolve around a revitalized Israeli-Diaspora relationship. The driving force behind this new relationship should be the Diaspora, which should take a larger responsibility for addressing the challenges of Jewish survival.  This approach would replace the present relationship in which Diaspora efforts act as a supplemental force for Israel’s education, welfare and immigrant absorption needs. This lecture will suggest a new paradigm, one that will include the growing Israeli Diaspora as well as large numbers of talented Jews who have not been actively involved in Diaspora community life.
